Jimaale, a correspondent of the Puntland-based news Web site Puntlandpost, was freed without charges after the National Union of Somali Journalists negotiated his release, according to local journalists.

Jimaale was held incommunicado in a prison near the Presidency, Villa Somalia, in Mogadishu for five days after his arrest while covering a government security operation in the capital Mogadishu, he told CPJ.
