Ruhatana, editor-in-chief of the journal Kanyarwanda and an official of the human rights organization of the same name, was killed in his home district of Nyakabanda by a soldier of the Rwandan Armed Forces. In 1993, he was attacked and injured by armed men who tried to take documents belonging to Kanyarwanda from him.Motive Unconfirmed: CPJ is investigating to determine whether the death was work-related.
