Memorial fund named in honor of Lee Lescaze

A memorial fund has been established at CPJ in memory of Lee Lescaze, a one-time foreign editor of the Wall Street Journal and the Washington Post.

Lescaze, who had become weekend editor at the Journal, died in July of cancer at the age of 57. During his career, he had reported from Vietnam and the White House and was also a former national editor and assistant managing editor for the Style section at the Post.

In 1987, Lescaze shared the Overseas Press Club’s Bob Considine Award with five other Journal reporters for a series on the rise of Islam.
